This publication website
This static website has no signup form or subscriber database. It includes no analytics scripts, advertising pixels, session replay or application cookies. You can read its pages without giving us an email address.
Cloudflare Pages is the intended hosting provider. When serving this website, the provider processes technical request information, such as connection IP addresses, to deliver and protect the website. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
When you subscribe
The Subscribe free button takes you to the existing subscription page at chesapeake.y5.gg. The link includes general site campaign labels, not a personal identifier. That page collects your submitted email address, the consent statement and timestamp, and limited acquisition labels. It has its own privacy notice.
If you join through a Meta Instant Form, you provide your email and consent to Meta. Meta transfers the form response and advertising labels to the publisher's first-party subscriber system.
Why subscriber information is used
We use subscriber information to send the newsletter, record consent, prevent duplicate requests, measure acquisition without exposing raw personal data, and honor unsubscribe and suppression requests. Your email address is not put into product analytics.
Newsletter and subscription service providers
The existing subscription site and database are hosted on OpenAI Sites. Resend processes subscriber contact details to deliver the newsletter and handle unsubscribes. These services are separate from the static publication website.
The subscription site's privacy notice describes anonymous page-view measurement through PostHog US using an ephemeral random identifier, page path and limited campaign labels. It states that email addresses, browser IP addresses, cookies, persistent identity, person profiles and session replay are not sent to PostHog.
Meta provides advertising and conversion measurement, including Instant Forms. An accepted website signup may be reported to Meta with a one-way SHA-256 hash of the email address and a unique event identifier. When available, the report can include an advertising click identifier, connection IP address and browser user-agent for attribution. Those matching fields are sent directly to Meta and are not stored in the subscriber database.
For an Instant Form signup, the accepted-signup report may include the Meta lead identifier. A person joining through that form provides the raw email address to Meta before it is transferred to us. Raw email addresses are not sent to Meta in the website's server-side signup report, and are never sent to PostHog. Meta is not the subscriber system of record.
Your choices and requests
Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe control. Request access, correction or deletion by emailing hi@y5.gg. The subscription site's data deletion page contains app-data deletion instructions.
